Danish Composer Frederikke Hoffmeier Wins European Film Award for Best Original Score
Danish composer Frederikke Hoffmeier has been honoured with the European Film Award for Best Original Score for her work on the film The Girl with the Needle. Directed by Magnus von Horn, this historical psychological drama is set in post-World War I Copenhagen and follows the story of Karoline, a young factory worker portrayed by Vic Carmen Sonne, who becomes entangled with Dagmar, a character played by Trine Dyrholm, operating an underground adoption agency.

In addition to Hoffmeier’s accolade, The Girl with the Needle also received the award for Best Production Design, crafted by Polish production designer Jagna Dobesz. Both lead actresses, Trine Dyrholm and Vic Carmen Sonne, were nominated for Best Actress. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024 and has since been featured at various international film festivals. Its Danish theatrical release is scheduled for 23 January 2025.
